Rocky Mountain Touge Tour 2012

Touge (?) is a Japanese word literally meaning "pass." (Pronounced as "Toe-Gae") It refers to any of the narrow, winding roads that can be found in and around the mountains of Japan and other geographically similar areas, like the mountain roads of Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
In order to decrease the incline of mountain roads, thereby making them easier for commercial trucks to pass, engineers place a series of S bends in steep roads that provide access to and from high mountain elevations. These passes have become popular with auto enthusiests enthusiasts because they provide a challenging, albeit dangerous, course.

This is our first event, yet we are very hopeful for a good turnout.  RMTT2012 is a mountain fun run starting in southern Colorado Springs, proceding to the peak of Monarch Pass, and the return home.  There wil be multiple stops along the way for food, beverages, and tons of photos!  Here in Colorado we are blessed with the best driving roadways the world has ever seen, and RMTT2012 is a great chance to come out and enjoy the mountains, friends, and kick butt vehicles!

The innagural Rocky Mountain Touge Tour will be held Saturday August 25, 2012.  We will be meeting at 8AM for breakfast and off by 9AM, returning by early evening.  The run will begin at Dad's Kwik Inn, 385 Main St, Security CO.. At the bottom you will find a link to the route map, as well as driving directions.  Those who plan on going please e-mail me at flpgarageworks@gmail.com and let me know so I can add your name and vehicle onto the list for others to see.

I am looking for input/feedback on the event.  If anyone else knows the route, and you have ideas for photo stops, favorite lunch spot in the Salida area, or should we get tee shirts or decals for the run?  Please get back to me and let me know ASAP so I can get all the final details worked out.
